Do you know this person?

Posted by Malou at 9/19/2008 11:00:00 PM 6 comments
I was laughing so bad that I almost fell from the chair when I showed this picture to my husband and asked him if he know this person. Unbelievable but guess what? He didn't recognize who she is. If you can only see the reaction on his face you would laugh hysterically then finally I gave up and told him. If I was born on the 80's i will look like her. ;-)
Do you have a clue?

Telling secrets

So funny this morning when my little boy hold my hand pulling me close to him and whisper close to my ear. He said "mama pasikol pease" which mean Mama Popsicle please. It's like our little secret that no one needs to know. He's been doing it lately even to his dad which is so sweet. To mothers like me this kind of technique (whispering) also has a great effect in a loud crowded place. When you wanted your child to focus intently on your message simply whisper a message in your child's ear. The background noise will require him to pay attention on you and on your message. He will undoubtedly want to whisper a message in your ear next. This set up is calming to both of you. You might want to try this technique if it works for you too.

Top Round Beef Roast Recipe

Posted by Malou at 9/19/2008 02:15:00 PM 2 comments
My in-laws invited us over to their house for dinner last Wednesday and one of the dish she cooked is the top round beef roast. I thought maybe I should cook beef roast tonight so I checked on the ingredients if i had any, just get lucky I still have them so there it is. We have a nice mouth watering Top Round Beef Roast .

PS. I just can't resist taking picture of my son next to it. He insist to be on the picture too :-)

Here's the recipe that I have:

- 2 1/2 pounds top round beef roast
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 cups beef broth

- 1 tablespoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon barbecue seasoning powder
- 1 tablespoon rosemary
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil

Pour 1/4 cup of oil in a roasting pan or dutch oven.
Heat on the stove on medium.
Rub the meat all over with the rub mixture. Place roast in the oil and brown on both sides.
Heat oven to 400°F. Place the dutch oven or roasting pan in the oven, uncovered.
Roast for 1/2 hour, turn the roast over and lower the heat to 350° F.
Roast for another 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F. for rare, 145°F. for medium, etc.
Remove from the oven and allow it to rest for 15 minutes before carving.
After the roast has been removed, place the roaster or dutch oven on top of the stove over medium heat.
Add two cups of broth, stir to combine with the drippings.
Simmer for 5 minutes. Pour through a strainer and serve warm with the meat.

spiritual thoughts for the day

Posted by Malou at 9/19/2008 08:02:00 AM 0 comments
I got this email from my sister in law I thought of posting it here to share the very nice message.

JOHN 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner,
the people were in and out of the cold.

The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell
many papers.
He walked up to a policeman and said,
"Mister, you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could
find a warm place to sleep tonight would you ?
You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and
down the alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight.
Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay."
The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "You
go down the street to that big white house and you knock
on the door. When they come out the door you just say
John 3:16, and they will let you in."
So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the
door, and a lady answered. He looked up and said,
"John 3:16." The lady said, "Come on in, Son."
She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom
rocker in front of a great big old fireplace, and she went
off.. The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself:
John 3:16...I don't understand it, but it sure makes
a cold boy warm.
Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry? "
He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of
days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food,"
The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table
full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat
any more. Then he thought to himself:
John 3:16...Boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure
makes a hungry boy full.
She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub
filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a
while. As he soaked, he thought to himself: John 3:16 ...
I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy
clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my
whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in
front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out.
The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room,
tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers
up around his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out
the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the
window at the snow coming down on that cold night,
he thought to himself: John 3:16 ...I don't understand it but
it sure makes a tired boy rested.
The next morning the lady came back up and took him
down again to that same big table full of food. After he
ate, she took him back to that same big old split bottom
rocker in front of the fireplace and
picked up a big old Bible.
She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face.
"Do you understand John 3:16 ? " she asked gently. He
replied, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it
was last night when the policeman told me to use it,"
She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain
to him about Jesus . Right there, in front of that big old fireplace,
he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there
and thought: John 3:16 -- don't understand it, but it sure
makes a lost boy feel safe.
You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either,
how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how
Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand
the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as
they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don't understand the intense
love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end..
I don't understand it, but it sure does make life worth living.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.
If you aren't ashamed to do this, please follow the directions .
Jesus said, "If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed
of you before my Father." Pass this on only if you mean it.
I do Love God. He is my source of existence.. He keeps
me functioning each and every day. Phil 4:13 If you love
God and are not ashamed of all the marvelous things he
has done for you, send this on.
Take 60 seconds & give this a shot !
Let's just see if Satan stops this one.
All you do is:
1) Simply say a small prayer for the person who sent you this,
"Father, God bless this person in whatever it is that You know
he may be needing this day ! "
2) Then send it on to ten other people.
Within hours ten people have prayed for you,
and you caused a multitude of people to pray to God for
other people. Then sit back and watch the power of God
work in your life for doing the thing that you know He loves.

My step daughter and family had finally moved in to their new house 5 miles from our house and after all of the hard work of putting their things in place they finally invited us for dinner last week along with the other relatives as a celebration. They have a wonderful place in a quiet little town wherein their property is close to the river, not a lot of neighbors close by which they really like for more privacy. In the backyard down the property is a river. My son in-law said he already spotted a deer down the river. It's a great site to go fishing and camping. I am happy for them. I don't have a lot of pictures that was taken but here are the two snap shots that i got.

my little maintenance man

It all started when my husband cleaned out our garage when he found Maddy's old playing tools. She loves playing with them considering its her favorite toy. As a little girl she look up at daddy as her idol and said that she wanted to be just like daddy. As she grew up lots of toys to play with and when we moved out from one apartment to the other this tool set was left alone inside the garage. Finally, after many years here comes along Jarred her little brother started to search for his own adventures. He like playing with tools too. In fact he helped daddy fix stuff inside the house. He picked up every tools that daddy laid down on the floor while working from pliers, knots, bolts, hammer etc. but keep away the dangerous things you know for safety purpose around our little boy. Jarred pretended to do what daddy do. So anyhow we cleaned up Maddy's old tools and finally handed down to Jarred. His happiness is worthless. It's nice to see that toys have certain values which can be handed down from one to another.

How would you consolidate debt?

Posted by Malou at 9/18/2008 03:00:00 AM 0 comments
I said to myself why do we need credit cards anyhow while we can always use cash in buying besides I can never have trouble if I never use credit. It may prevent bad credits issues but the point is using a credit will bring up good credit. Just like applying for a loan, and then the company will run a credit background check to be able to be qualified for the loan. Some people make mistake in using a lot of credit cards. You may not want it to happen but sometimes it did happen especially in times of emergency. Then your credit get piled up and you decide to think on how to consolidate debt and get rid of the the bad credits with higher interest. But how do you consolidate your debt? A web site that I found offers a free quote on debt consolidation. You can choose what type of quote you need from services like debt management, debt settlement, or credit counseling to debt consolidation loans and mortgage refinancing. In times like this it is really important to make tight on budgets to save money. That's why being smart on decisions will be of great importance. Being a person with a good credit report opens up the door to all kinds of possible ventures. Things you thought were out of reach can be available to you now. Maybe you may wanting to buy a house or buy a new car. With your consolidated debt you'll be able to make your plans done.

going to work

I woke up early to start packing up and go to work to help my husband. I was so tired I can't even open my eyes. Jarred woke me up 3 times last night asking for milk. Until these time I can't leave him alone in his bed and I ended up sleeping in his bed since he was born up to this time. My husband said Jarred's going to be just like Maddy that was stuck on his bed until she was nine years old. Oh well...i think its the bond between mother and child why we're inseparable.

Empire Gold Buyers

I have so much fun going through all my trinkets in my box looking through all my old gold. Some of them i don't use anymore because they were broken some of them I got from my brother which he gave me during my younger years and some came from the garage sale. I love going to garage sale finding old gold and somehow I collected quite a few from it. It’s really amazing how these days the value of gold climb up. Its nice to keep them old gold but sometimes its not worth keeping them especially when you can’t use it because its broke. I came to find out that by going through Empire Gold Buyers they will appraise your broken gold and buy them from you. It's so easy and simple how to do it after talking to one of their personnel i had a clear idea of the whole thing. I decided to let go and sell my old broken jewelry. So excited to tell my two friends about it and in fact they were excited to go through all their old trinkets and have fun going through them. They were even more excited to sell their old wedding bands. You know bad memories.

The calendar said that Maddy will be with us on Halloween. We've been very excited about it for a long time. You see it's only a few times in the year that it's happening. Sometimes the date falls when she spend this occasion with her mom. It's going to be fun because she's with us and Jarred will also love it. We usually pick Halloween Costumes a week before Halloween gets here. We haven't made a decision yet what to wear but we got numerous choices already. We will soon figure it out.

I love exercising in the morning when Jarred is still busy playing in a corner. A mom is always busy and it's tough to find extra time doing extra exercise but theres a 30 minute sprints on a stationary bike three times a week. It's as good for your cardiovascular system as pedaling less intensely for 40 to 60 minutes five times per week. Sometimes me and my son just walk around the block in the morning it's fun and work well for us.

I truly believe in friendship and I feel okay knowing that my friend is always there for me. Friendship is important to me. Distance could be between us but our friendsship will last forever. I have a friend way back in college. Maylene has gone into places and so as myself but we kept a constant communication. She's also a big sister to me and I hope that someday we'll see each other again.

Minor cut first aid

Posted by Malou at 9/16/2008 09:32:00 PM 1 comments
Things happen...but this wasn't bad at all. My husband's work shirt on the back said "safety first". As a property foreman he takes care of a lot of units in one of the apartment complex in our area. That saying on his shirt somehow got stuck in my mind but lately I was absent mindedly moving around the kitchen doing my routine at home. So I was slicing the meat in the cutting board and I accidentally cut my finger. Ouch! that I grabbed the bottle of black pepper and sprinkle some ground pepper to stop the bleeding quickly. You probably never heard of this idea but my mom taught me that. You'll be surprised at how well this works. It doesn't sting or burn and actually it also reduces pain and even has antibacterial and antiseptic properties on it. When going camping I don't forget to bring this spice with us because it is a good first aid on minor cuts.

Today went up to 86 degrees seemingly the weather has been acting up. Yesterday was a very nice temperature. Since we have watched the forecast yesterday we are ready how to combat the heat. The fan efficiently and effectively cool our house. Here's how to do it. During evening hours open the sliding mirror door but leave the screen door closed to stop the mosquitos from getting in. Place the fan against the screen door so it would bring cool outside air into the room. Turn the fan on. It's the way to cut cooling cost and stay cool.
