snowy morning

Posted by Malou at 11/22/2008 09:34:00 AM 2 comments
Snow dropped 6 inches today that make our driveway looked like a wonderland. The snow on the bare branches of the trees looked like white candies. Daddy went out to start to snow plow to make a path on the way out to the driveway. He finished an hour later and shovelled the snow from our roof. We are all going out later to play in the snow.

Christmas For Payatas

How many of us are aware of the tragedies that left the children of Payatas in an unfortunate condition? These children's lived with their families in an impoverished squatters picking up dumped items that they can sell to use that little amount of money to buy food for the day. This condition had worsen after the tragedy on the collapsed of the piled garbage that burned shacks where they lived when apparently the wires that had fallen onto them had caught fire. Up to this time the horrendous plight of this children had been one of the main concern of everybody. On the coming Christmas season it is the best time to share our gifts to bring a smile on these children faces. Watch the Christmas For Payatas video on YouTube which highlights the situation. It's a charity appeal to help raise donations for Christmas. There has already been many prominent supporters for this good cause from footballers, politicians, celebrities etc. Let us join hands and help bring the urgent needs of these children. Please check on the Press release below.

Press Release:
The landfill in Payatas, The Philippines, is notoriously known the world over as Smokey Mountain. For over 35 years, the smoking dump site has grown to become a stark and heart-tugging reminder of the desperate onditions of humanity.

On a daily basis, children pick through newly arrived garbage to
collect material to sell. The earnings made by one child are not enough to even buy food for the day. Hence, entire families are forced to climb the mountain each day, hoping to earn enough to feed everyone. Children as young as four years old are forced to work in this daily struggle for survival.

In response to the plight of these children, Totedaddy.com is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas.

Totedaddy.com has kicked off with a cash sponsorship of USD 10,000 to enable the children to celebrate Christmas. FusionExcel International has also pitched in a USD 5,000 in cash sponsorship. The money raised
will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community.

It is hoped that by creating better awareness to the plight of these children, more support can be garnered towards their betterment. Together we can bury poverty!

Yes, I might be repeating myself here but gosh I don't like snow no more. It just started but I can feel my bones so stiff from cold. I feel sad when there's no sunshine. Today is a dreary day, I would feel better if the sun shows up a little bit so we can play out doors. The sunshine is on and offm on and off. Since there's nothing to do that much I decided to tear up the house. I shampooed the rug, cleaned the couch, then later on I put jarred on the tub filled it with water and played with him for a while. After lunch he finally settled down and fall asleep. So there at least I have a little accomplishment today.

the how to's of the linoleum

Posted by Malou at 11/19/2008 10:47:00 PM 0 comments
The other day when I was cleaning the kitchen floor I have a nice linoleum in my kitchen and I've always been amazed or puzzled at how they got all them different colors in that floor. So identical I just had to google it to find out to my amazement. For every different color in the linoleum there is a different layer in the floor kinda like making a transparent cake with different colors that when you put all the layers together one overlaps the other that brings the total picture together. And then each layer of the linoleum goes through a kinda oven that gently melts one color into another forming one complete pattern like sewing a pattern over a pattern over a pattern 'till they're one complete piece. Amazing...

Mindful Living TV

In today's world it just seems like everybody is constantly extremely on the go. Its like an old cliche' that my mother once told me that you have to stop and smell the roses. It seems like every body's always worried about every little thing. If they would only slow down for a moment and focus, things might be a lot clearer. I think this all started in the seventies and just escalated over the last forty years. You ever have a conversation with someone and they stare right through you not even hearing what you said. After a while at my new job I really thought I was the only real person there. Everybody is so programmed that they are like little robot. I just put myself through little ingrains in my mind that keeps me focused just like as if I was putting myself through self improvement training. The day dreamers are the worst it seems it's tough to tell if they are in deep thought of the task at hand because you know thinking of a good plan is always a good way to get the job done quicker. But usually when they awake from that stare they're still blank in the face they must have been thinking about the supper or lunch. It was so nice about hearing the mindful living network it always seems to bring about a peaceful calm at the end of my monotonous day.

writing anything

Nearly everyone experiences writer's block when they start keeping a journal. When I do, I just remind myself that I am not trying to create literature for the ages but only trying to explore and understand my innermost feelings. It's always fun for me to go back on the dates wherein I wrote down entries which always fascinate me into what I thought or felt at different stages of my life.

Credit Counseling Site Review

I found my self falling., falling, falling in debt and I didn't stop to realize how I got there until I was there. So much debt it will take me ten years if I'm lucky by paying three times the minimal on my payment to get out. It's so easy to use a credit card it's not funny, and once you have credit they give you more and more credit. Learning to use one card of lower interest to pay off another card of higher interest seem to be a monthly habit but what I didn't read on my statement is that my money would go to the lower interest rate money on the card before it would pay off any of the higher rate money that I borrowed. So the interest compounded on the higher amount, month after month after month. So even paying three times my minimal it's still didn't really knocked down the monies that I owed. Most of my payment went to interest very little to principal. Finally I decided to look into consolidate debts it made things so much easier. My payments were about forty percent less by doing this. Thanks to a friend telling me this number debt- 866-253-1473 I'm back on track again.
